HOW DOES A SOLAR SHOWER WORK?

These solar showers have a water compartment inside them - this is filled with water using a standard garden hose. When left in the sun, the heat energy from the sun warms up the water inside the shower unit. This will usually take 3-6 hours, depending on the outside temperature and the initial water temperature. When you are ready to take a shower, turn on the garden hose to feed cold water into the system, so you can mix cold with the hot water inside the shower - enabling you to set the temperature to a level that is comfortable for you. The water inside the shower unit can get quite hot, so ensure you test it before using it and ensure children are supervised.

There is no solar panel for generating electricity and no electric heater element. The heating is provided entirely by the passive heat energy of the sun heating the water inside the shower unit.

DIRECTIONS

1. Follow included instructions for assembly
2. Find a suitable area to mount your shower, within reach of a garden hose fitting (We recommend mounting to a timber deck or concrete pad.)
3. Connect your garden hose to the inlet on your shower
4. Turn on the mixer and allow the shower to fill until water comes out the shower head
5. Turn off the mixer and turn off your garden hose.
6. Leave the garden hose connected to the inlet and to your garden tap
7. Allow 3-6 hours for the sun to heat the water inside your shower.
8. Test the water temperature and use the mixer to blend cold water if needed
9. Relax and enjoy a refreshing shower!

SAFETY WARNING

In hot weather, water temperatures can rise up higher than you may expect, so ensure you test water temperature before showering. As you would in a normal shower, use the mixer to blend cold water with the warm water in your shower body to get the water to a comfortable temperature.
